Share in Chris’s love of cooking and hospitality in the intimate atmosphere of Blackfly Lodge as he prepares fresh local seafood, harvested hours earlier.
Participants will fish/fly fish the flats for a half day then come back to the lodge for a half day of cooking with Chef Hastings after collecting for a great ocean to table dining experience.

Welcome to the Blackfly Lodge All-Women’s Salt Water Fly Fishing School!
The ever increasing demand for a highly credible women’s salt water fly fishing school has inspired two of the fly fishing industries top instructors to join forces and create a one of a kind interactive learning experience solely devoted to fly fishing the salt water flats.
Join world renowned fly fishing instructor Captain Sarah Gardner and 25 year Florida Keys flats fishing guide Captain Bruce Chard on a 4 day learning adventure that will incorporate the heart and soul of the salt water flats.
The spectacular Blackfly Lodge offers the best amenities on land and the nearby world famous bonefish and permit waters of Abaco Island and the Bahamas solidifies this location as the best possible destination to host an all-women’s salt water fly fishing school. All of these factors help to gain valuable fishing experience and knowledge needed to become a true salt water angler. Sarah and Bruce will provide extensive one-on-one attention to help you improve your skills and achieve your goals.

Reeling in Recovery – Alpharetta, Georgia
RegisterWelcoming all Metro Atlanta women in recovery for a day of connecting with nature and other women in 12-step programs through the sport of fly fishing. The class is for beginners (no previous fly fishing experience needed), and will include a stream side lunch and an hour open discussion meeting.
- 5 or 6 wt fly fishing rod/reel outfit and a 2X leader.
- Waders, wading boots and heavy wool socks to wear with wading boots.

- An impressive and detailed Entomology presentation featuring Eastern Hatches by our very own and very talented Professional Fly Fisherwoman and Fly Tyer Megan Hess.
- Field to Table presentation. Close attention to ingredients is at the heart of all good cooking – our featured Chef will bring a wide range of wild foods into sharp and delicious focus for all to enjoy.
- Stemware painting at its finest, followed by wine tasting matched with local fare. Enjoy your special wine glass throughout your stay.
- Fly tying, casting instruction and tune-ups, canoes and kayaks all assisted by experienced Maine guides in a non-intimidating environment.
- A healthy noon meal will prepare us for an afternoon and evening of great fly fishing, “your schedule is our schedule” so we fish as long as you wish. With a great picnic lunch our evenings are casual and comfortable in a beautiful environment.
- We return to the lodge as our guests desire for dessert and refreshments to reflect on the casting, catching and evening’s adventures.

Women’s Fly Fishing Fiesta – Pasadena, CA

We will have a panel of experienced female anglers who will teach the basic art and recipes of fly tying, casting to hit your target and selecting the best gear for your next outing. Bring your appetite for food, fun and meeting new anglers who share your passion for the experience of fly fishing!
All fishing gear needed for the class is provided.
Bring sunscreen, a good hat and a rain jacket if weather looks like it could pop up during our class time. If you have fly fishing gear you’d like to use for the class, feel free to bring it.

Golden Isles Women On The Fly – Brunswick, GA

The first of many monthly events held on the 4th Tuesday of every month centered on building a fly fishing community for women. This event is put on in partnership with Golden Isles Women On The Fly which is a local chapter of United Women On The Fly.
Each event will cover a different topic beginning with Fly Fishing Basics on April 23rd leading into upcoming topics like introducing double haul fly casting, local fly selection knowledge, fly tying tips and tricks and equipment selection. On The Fly Outfitters and Orvis will provide equipment, product giveaways, demos and promotional items to all attendees. *while supplies last.
Come out and enjoy learning more about fly fishing in the Golden Isles of Georgia.
During instructional and education sessions, no gear is needed but, if we are hosting a casting demonstration or fly tying class please feel free to bring your own equipment (including fly tying vise, materials and tools as well as rod/reel)

Women’s Introduction to Fly Fishing – Kingston, NY

Lifelong angler and professional Delaware River fly fishing guide Anita Coulton will share advice and perspective in a round table-style discussion designed to give beginning women anglers an introduction to the sport of fly fishing. The talk will allow plenty of opportunity to ask questions of an experienced women angler, and to share advice and experiences in a casual atmosphere. This event is free of charge, and refreshments will be served.

The specifically chosen dates are peak for our very sought after Hex (Green Drake) hatch. We will be casting over Brook Trout averaging 14 to 17 inches with many in the 18 to 20” class. Numerous fishing opportunities with little pressure results in great success for all skill levels.
