I am a mother of two energetic boys, ages 2 and 4. Lately, most of my fly fishing is done with my family. On these outings, my casts are very limited and the stress level is a bit high, compared to the usual peacefulness one finds when out on the water. Yet, when a connection is made, and a fish is reeled in, the level of excitement surpasses any kind I have ever experienced fishing with any one else. My husband loves fly fishing, too. Sometimes, we take turns. One stays with the kids, while the other goes out to fish. On occasion, when the stars (a.k.a. Grandparents) align, just the two of us get out on the water together. I truly enjoy this time. For me, fly fishing is a passion… some might say an addiction. The conditions are rarely perfect when I get the chance to go. I go anyway, and it is always awesome. I was fortunate to have parents that showed me the value of outdoor adventure. Now, I am enjoying passing that gift along to my children.
