2 Day Program
Our goal is to introduce you to what you will encounter in the world of fly fishing. We stress confidence in the outdoors and using your power of observation. You will learn from accomplished casting instructors the basics of a good cast as well as advanced casting techniques.
Learn the basics or get rid of bad habits. This school will work for beginners and experienced anglers. All schools include two day instruction, rod fees, written material, lunch and equipment.
We teach knots, equipment, entomology, how to read water and think like a fish! Our objective is to make you an independent angler or the angler you want to be.

June 14th – 5pm – Wine & Chat
June 15th – 8:30 am start
Students and instructors meet at Orvis Jackson Hole
Introductions and light breakfast.
Casting on lawn.
Basic Cast. Roll Cast, and how to shoot line.
Learn basic fly fishing knots.
Entomology – all about bugs and more…
Picnic lunch.
Teaching fly casting. Advanced casting – double haul and reach mends.
Basics of getting started: How to choose the right equipment for the outdoor experience and the perfect rod and reel for the type of fishing you want to pursue.
How to fight and land a fish!
Wrap for the day.
June 16th – 8:30 am start
Head out to fish!
We will fish a local pond filled with big cutthroat trout.
Practice skills, have fun! Will need Idaho fishing license.
Reel Women Guides will hold clinics on dry fly presentation, how to fish a nymph and streamer techniques.
Return for demonstration.
Picnic lunch.
We will hunt for rising fish and practice our new skills casting and fishing!
We will end with a discussion on fishing ethics and the proper attitude!
*Please note: We may adjust the schedule depending on weather and fishing conditions.

Bring all the gear you have! There will be some available to borrow if you don’t have any.
